Hello everyone. I’m Sandra Mitchell the Intermediate Literacy Coach at Benton and have been since 2005. Since then we at Benton have come leaps and bounds with our thinking in how children learn best. I feel most fortunate not only to have been a leader in igniting this change but also to have worked alongside such dedicated Professional Partners who undertook the implementation of the change. Yes, because of the The Maine Literacy Partnership now… Maine Partnerships in Comprehensive Literacy our school certainly is the essence of a Professional Learning Community right alongside the other elementary schools within our district.  

Once again I am excited to be co-teacing ERL 551 with my professional partner, Lisa Roy. Here the goal is to lay a foundation through an understanding of theory and go on to strategically guide you through the implementation of the many components of this literacy model.  

In the words of the  Greman poet, Gorthe bear in mind,  "Instruction does much, but encouragement everything." Yes, as coaches we will be there for you!
