David Caswell
"Platoon Sergeant Caswell served in the Iraq War. He had wanted
to serve since he was a kid. His dad was in the Navy and many
other family member served in the military. He was anxious to
join the Army. His dad didn't want him to serve in the Army, but
he still volunteered to be in the Army.
He joined the military when he was 17. He was
a platoon sergeant and was in charge of 50 men at all times. He
was based in Southern Iraq and the city he was in was over 4,000 years
old and one of the oldest cities in Iraq. As soon as he got to
his base there was a rocket attack. The first IED (roadside bomb)
was not for this first month. Even though he was not always with
them [his men] he was in charge of keeping rack of them. His unit
was in charge of moving supplies. They would come fro the US and
they would distribute them. He was in Iraq for 1 year, but served
a total of 15 months. He did virtual training and laser
training before going to Iraq...." ~ J. Poulin
