Don Harris

"I interviewed Mr. Harris and he is a veteran from the Vietnam and Korean Wars. He grew up on a farm and wanted to fly in the Air Force at the ago of four. When he got older he enlisted for the Air Force, and put in an application for pilot training. Mr. Harris was in the Air Force for twenty two years.... "
~ J. Rizza

"...When I heard him speak I know and understand move about the Korean and the Vietnam war. I was proud of what he did for the country and for himself to achieve the goal that he had set, especially that he was part of the war and he saved our country with other people...."  ~ K. Dale

"...'The only good thing about war is that people are devoted enough to die for what they believe in.'  When he said that, it just stuck in my brain.  I think it should be a famous quote.  I also remember when I asked, 'How do you feel about the war in Iraq today, and how do you feel about this country?'  A man who fought for his country saying he's ashamed of what its become, it must have taken a lot of courage to say it, and that I respect him for...."  ~ N. Michaud

"...From this interview it makes me think the world of all of those crazy people out there doing what they love to do for our country and to appreciate it more and to appreciate the people who are doing it and are brave enough to do it. I also learned that the training is hard and you are not treated very good. I really liked the interview and Mr. Harris. I enjoyed talking to him. It was well worth the hour that we spent with him and talked. He has a really good story and I think that the interview went well."  ~ K. Pelletier

"... One of his friends was a man named Jerry. Jerry flew planes as well as Mr. Harris. They were friends for a while. Mr. Harris said that his main goal in war was to hit the target and stay alive.  He almost got hit with a bomb and he said it hit the runway where they were taking off....
...Mr. Harris commented on the food in Vietnam as being very good.  That leads me to believe that he wasn't fussy.
He said that he would do it again if he had to.  He would fight for our country because he believes we need people to fight for our rights and our freedom. He thinks we need more brave men and women to serve for our country and to protect our great land. He also thinks we need to win the war in Iraq today.
... I learned that it was hard to deal with because of everything that was happening in Vietnam.  Mr. Harris taught me that sometimes you have to face your fears and stand up for what you believe in.  I felt a lot better like I just visited Vietnam while the war was going on.  It was absolutely valuable to me I learned a lot of things that I didn't know before."  ~ J.
