Section 1: Community and Parental Involvement

The Technology Planning Team meets monthly throughout the school year and involves a broad representation of the school community in the planning process. Members of the committee in 2007-2008 include the following teachers, administrators, and parents:

Technology will be used to increase communication with parents and to promote community and parental involvement in a variety of ways:

· The District maintains a District webpage and supports the development of school and teacher web pages.

· The automated telephone system at the secondary level provides teacher voice mail and a homework hotline.

· All teachers and administrators have district email accounts.

· The district will move forward on a web-based communication package.

Parents will continue to be informed about technology and its proper use through:

· Students and their parents must sign the District Acceptable Use Policy

· Laptop nights for junior high school parents

· Frequent articles in the district newsletter, “ Notes,” and individual school newsletters highlight technology issues for parents
